Michael Harris, CLS'71, tells us that the above oil painting was done
by a Cherry Lawn student before he came to the school in the fall of
1965. In Michael's words "I first saw it hanging in the art studio
when I took an art class from Lucy Koch. I was supposed to concentrate
on drawing the lake and trees but I couldn't stop looking at those horses
that never seemed to stop moving. By 1969 it was moved to a wall in the
lounge of Boys Dorm (see page 140, upper right hand corner of the 1971
Cherry Pit) when it became the Student Commons.
In the summer of 1975 I took a trip up to the campus to wander around
and remember. I walked through the abandoned buildings and into the
lounge of Boys Dorm and saw this beautiful painting left on top of a
garbage heap. I brought it home and have had it hanging in my home for
the past 25 years."
Can anyone identify the painter?
